The Malankara Jacobite Syrian Christian Church, an Orthodox church in Malankara (Kerala, India) is an integral part of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church with the Patriarch of Antioch, His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II as its Supreme Head. The head of the church in Malankara is the Catholicose of the East, His Beatitude Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I, ordained by and accountable to the Patriarch of Antioch.


Under the aegis of Jacobite Syrian Christian Church, the Delhi Diocese is headed by His Grace Mor Eusebius Kuriakose, Metropolitan Bishop. He is based at St. Peter's JSO Cathedral, the spiritual center of Syrian Orthodox Christians in India's capital city, New Delhi.

The Delhi Diocese comprises of churches spread across North, East & Central states of India, apart from various spiritual & social bodies like Sunday School Association, Morth Mariam Vanitha Samajam, Youth Association & others. The Metropolitan Bishop is ably assisted by the Diocesan Council, consisting of selected members from all churches and leaders of spiritual bodies, besides the Vicars of the churches.


In order to undertake socio-charitable activites, the Delhi Diocese operates the Jacobite Syrian Church Educational and Charitable Society, Delhi under the patronage of the Metropolitan Bishop. The objective of the Society is to undertake various developmental projects amongst the poor & needy communities, while striving to preserve the faith and traditions of our forefathers.


To quench the spiritual thirst of churchgoers, the Church organises periodic events like Lumodo Bible Convention, Divine Retreats, Pre-Marriage Counselling, Bible classes, and other such programs. The Delhi Diocese also runs a Counselling Center at St. Peter's Cathedral, New Delhi to help people cope with a variety of issues that are faced by individuals, couples & families at every stage of life.


The Metropolitan Bishop encourages the spiritual calling amongst the laity and has ordained priests & deacons who heeded their inner calling to serve God and the Church in closer fellowship.

On 28th November 1976, worship services were relocated to Mater Dei school hall. On 30th April, 1977, the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church Society was registered. On 28th November 1977, late Catholicos Baselios Paulos II submitted an application for a plot of land to Minister Sikander Bakht.
